Our history dates back to January 1959. Dr. Frederick E. Nigels, an internist with a special interest in cardiology, opened his practice in Myrtle Beach. He was joined by Dr. H. E. Butler Jr. on July 7, 1967; also an internist who had just completed a one year teaching fellowship in cardiology.

For the next eleven years their practice, Nigels & Butler continued to grow. In 1978 they became Internal Medicine Associates of Myrtle Beach when they were joined by Dr. J. R. Thompson, a gastroenterologist. In 1982 we became Cardiology/Gastroenterology Associates of Myrtle Beach shortly after the arrival of Dr. Neil W. Trask, a board certified cardiologist. Since then, we have continued to grow to meet the medical needs of the Grand Strand.
